Main Job Details
The Driver Trainer role at ISS is a full-time, permanent position within a reputable outsourcing company. As a Driver Trainer, you will be expected to take charge of training new and current drivers, ensuring they meet high safety standards and can operate vehicles confidently. While a specific salary range is not disclosed, the industry expectation is competitive pay with stability that comes from a well-established employer. Candidates must have a valid Code 14 driver’s licence and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP), along with at least five years’ truck driving experience. No criminal record is allowed and contactable references must be provided.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Your daily tasks include providing both theoretical and practical training, monitoring drivers’ skills, and delivering constructive feedback. Other routine duties are overseeing pre-trip inspections, instructing on safe driving habits, and ensuring that all vehicles are maintained and cleaned before and after instructional sessions. You will organise and execute training modules on straight reverse, alley docking, coupling and decoupling, and proper defensive driving techniques. Safety is a core concern, so setting up a safe training zone and using personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential. Reporting outcomes and maintaining detailed records of trainees’ progress rounds out your main duties.
Advantages of the Position
One big plus for the ISS Driver Trainer job is the variety and hands-on nature of the work. You will never experience a dull day and will see tangible results and growth in your trainees. Additionally, it’s an opportunity to help elevate standards for the industry and positively influence workplace safety, which is highly regarded and meaningful to many professionals.
Disadvantages to Consider
Some may find the requirement to manage strict safety protocols and detailed records a bit intensive. Balancing classroom and on-road training can be challenging, particularly if resources or time are constrained. Training new drivers in high-risk conditions may also add stress to the role.
Final Verdict
The Driver Trainer role at ISS is well-suited to experienced drivers ready to mentor others and set high standards for safety and skills. For those who value stability, industry growth and a service-focused environment, this permanent opportunity is certainly worth exploring.
